Свідомість без упереджень: 40 років боротьби з ВІЛ/СНІДом
2 грудня 2025 року доцентка кафедри іноземних мов з латинською мовою та медичною термінологією Вікторія Костенко провела для здобувачів освіти 12 групи ІІ курсу медичного факультету № 1 просвітницько-виховний захід на тему «HIV and AIDS: Stand Up to Stigma and Discrimination», присвячений Всесвітньому дню боротьби з ВІЛ/СНІДом, який щороку відзначають 1 грудня.
Під час заходу увагу було зосереджено не лише на основних медичних, але й на соціальних аспектах, пов’язаних з цими хворобами. На жаль, ця проблема стосується не лише окремих осіб або соціальних груп, а усього суспільства. Студенти переглянули фільм «HIV Survivors Reflect on 40 Years of AIDS Epidemic» (ABC News), після чого проаналізували причини виникнення стигматизації людей, які живуть з ВІЛ, можливі наслідки дискримінації за ознакою ВІЛ-статусу, конкретні приклади упередженого ставлення у суспільстві.
Підвищення рівня обізнаності щодо ВІЛ/СНІДу та привернення уваги до порушень прав і свобод людини за ознакою стану здоров’я залишаються актуальними напрямками діяльності медичної спільноти.
Awareness without Prejudice: 40 Years of the Fight Against HIV/AIDS
On December 2, 2025, Viktoriia Kostenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages with Latin and Medical Terminology conducted an educational and awareness-raising event for second-year medical students (Group 12, Faculty of Medicine No. 1) entitled “HIV and AIDS: Stand Up to Stigma and Discrimination”. This event was dedicated to World AIDS Day, observed annually on December 1.
The event focused not only on the medical aspects of HIV and AIDS but also on their social implications. Unfortunately, this issue affects not just individuals or specific social groups, but society as a whole. During the session, students watched the documentary
“HIV Survivors Reflect on 40 Years of the AIDS Epidemic” (ABC News), after which they discussed the underlying causes of stigma against people living with HIV, the possible consequences of discrimination based on HIV status, real-life examples of biased and prejudiced attitudes in society.
Raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and drawing attention to human rights violations based on health status remain key priorities for the medical community — including its future professionals.
